Forms - I am Stuck and I don't know what to do! :-(

Hi All,

First, thank you for taking the time to look at my thread.

I just took on a new position at my company and started working on an Access program that we are going to use to test scripts for a program we sell to clients which will insure that we set their proper parameters. I started this project on my own, showed it too my boss as a long time work in progess, who inturn showed her boss, and now they want it done and they want it done ASAP. I have been learning Access as I go and have not developed any database prior. I was stuck for 3 days on an item and finally resolved it, but now am stuck again and I just want to cry! So any help would be appreciated! So here's what's going on.

I made a very simple database with 3 tables and one form (which I consider the pretty form) for the user to see the information from one of the tables (instructions to perform their task) and a way to write information back to the main table from this form. Well, I want them to see the table in a datasheet view so that they can see the full list of tasks to complete, click on the ID #, and have that action open the "pretty form" that I created to complete and status the task. So what I did was to create another form that displays the information they need in a datasheet view and set up a macro which when the user dblclicks on the ID collum of the record opens up the "pretty form". But the thing is I cannot get the "pretty form" to open to the record they selected! It only opens it to the first record of the database and I can't seem to find anything or anyone to help me! I do not want to add a subform, I need the datasheet (or as we are going to call it queue) to accept a double click which takes the user to the "pretty" form which opens in the record they performed the double click on.

Can someone PLEASE help me??

Thank you so much!

Julie

PS - I know, I should have kept this project to myself until it was completed!!! :-)

Personally I would do this with a list box on a single form rather than having two forms to do basically one function and base the form on a query using the list box as the selection criteria for the record to be shown. I think it's just a lot easier to handle this way.

Here's a simple example.
