Linking two columns in a second Table

Help !!!!!!! calling all Guru's

I am trying to link two colomns together from one Table (tblLettersAndNumbers) into two seperate colomns in a second Table (tblLettersAndNumberConnected).
The complication is that the columns in tblLetterAndNumbersConnected need to be drop downs and if you select the Numbers column the Letter column should update atomatically (and Vice-Versa) e.g if you select number 1 letter A will apear.

My database is more complicated than the above example, so I have created the Test.mdb (attached) database to make it easier to explain.

This cannot be done in the table itself, but can in a form.

Attached is your database.

Have a look at the code behind the form and you will see how it works.

Chris,

Check if the necessary libraries are referenced as attached.

To map them, go to Tools -> References... menu path in VB Editor.

The error message is appearing in the FORM you created in the TEST.mdb database I sent you, I have just tried the COMPACT & REPAIR option but it didn't fix the problem.
I have reattched the TheArchitect.mdb file, just incase it got corrupted in the transfer ????????

Once again thanks for your help.

Still works fine.

I select a number, and the correspondig letter appears in the other drop-down list and vice versa.

I have to say:

I'll post this to the Moderators' Longue and ask others to have a look at it.

Below is one of my colleague's suggestion

See if this will help him out.

MSDN Suggestion

I would also suggest telling him/her to run a virus scan on the machine...this error was quite common when the MSBlaster virus infected computers.

Virus Scan

Our system is updated dailey using McAvee VirusScan Enterprise software, we are currently using - Virus Definition 4312 - Engine 4.2.60.
Plus I run the Stinger on all PC's periodically, because I am paranoid, I have just downloaded the lastest Stinger and all is clear.

Cheers

Re: OLE server or ActiveX control
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Haven't been checking my private message often enough

I get the same error, and I don't have a reason for it either. However, with that said, he doesn't need the Dlookup to do what he is after. Delete the statements and the reference to the Update event and the form works fine.

I found that as soon as I deleted all code it worked fine. As soon as I added a after update event (with out adding any code, i got that problem too, as if the code was there, it is the actual afterudpate event (timing if event, I think) that is causing the problem. Because there is a lookup in the table design the code isn't neccesary.

Good morning

Thank you TBÁrpi.

You have completely lost me now, I'm not a great one for VBA or code, I'm just a simple architect, is there any chance of sending the DB back with the code deleted as mentioned, so that I can have look and see what needs to be done.

regards chris
