Newbie needs help - please
In Access 2000, I have been asked to create a report, by date range that will provide on time percentages of orders processed. Question is - HOW?
I have a "DateIn" field which gives the date the order was received and entered into the database. Also, there is a "DateDhipped" field which gives the date the order shipped, and a "DateDue" field which gives the date that the order is due to the customer. I'm very new at this, and unsure how to create this query / report. Please help |

with any report, query, request, etc, Start with determing what data you need to solve this problem.
You know you need DueDate and ShipDate. But what is the Date range based on. Is it based on the date that you shipped, or based on the date the order was placed The determine what you need to do to the data. You need to know the total order suring that data range, how many shipped on or before the due date. The take the total number shipped "OnTime" and divide it by the total orders. This will give you yoru one time percentage for that data range Now you know what data you need and what you need to do to it. Now you have to decide how am I going to get this number Two queries Query1 SELECT IIf([Orders]![ShipDate]<=[Orders]![DueDate],1,0) AS OnTime, Orders.ShipDate FROM Orders WHERE (((Orders.ShipDate) Between [Enter Beg Date (01/01/04)] And [Enter End Date (01/08/04)])); query2 SELECT Sum(Query1.OnTime) AS SumOfOnTime, Count(Query1.ShipDate) AS CountOfShipDate, ([SumOfOnTime]/[CountOfShipDate])*100 AS OnTimePercentage FROM Query1; Results SumOfOnTime | CountOfShipDate | OnTimePercentage 2 | 3 | 66.6666666666667 Now i created these queries use the GUI interface of the query designer and just posted the SQL, so you don't have to be any expert on SQL. Now it might be possible to combine these two statements into one, but I don't have time to play with that. Good Luck S- |
