problem linking 2 subforms

I'm having a problem linking 2 subforms. I have racked my brains trying to fix this and I'm sure it can be done too, because I have done it before in a previous database, but I must be doing something wrong this time.

OK..I have a main form 'Projects' with 2 subforms, 'Items subform' and 'Orders subform'. Each project contains items, and each item contains orders. I have the items subform linked to the projects with a child/master relationship so that the items displayed always correspond to the project being displayed. What I can't do is get the 'orders subform' to link with the 'items subform' whenever i add it to the projects form. The wizard only lets me choose to link it with the projects on the main form, but not with the items subform.

I have the same functionality in another database, and I'm positive that the wizard just let me choose to link with the subform, but for some reason it won't let me do so this time. Since the databases are too big to attach here, I'm including a weblink where you can download the zip. I'm trying to incorporate the linkage features from the database 'OLD' to the one named 'NEW'. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Try reading the key to your first subform into a hidden field in your main form on the 'on current event' of the first subform. Link the second subform to the hidden field.
