Switchboard

I have created a switchboard which i would like to open on starting the database. In the help of MS Access it states "To make a switchboard open when you open the database, click the switchboard name in the Switchboard Manager dialog box, and then click Make Default." Which I have done, however this has not worked, any ideas?

I am using Access 2002

Also how can I edit the design of the Switchboard to make it more appealing?

I haven't had a chance to play with Access 2002, but in 2000 You go to the startup properties of the datebase (unser Tools) specify that the 'Display Form/Page" is the switchboard.

However, my personal perference is to display and start up form that has a company logo on it and launch the switchboard from a timed event on the startup form.

As far as making it more appealing, you should feel comfortable changing any of the cosmetic information on it you want, just like a regualr form(but don't change the underlying code, unless you feel really comfortable with MS Access, for example I have added password protection to certain switchboard options When clicked)

Also if you don't like the swtichbaord, which many don't, create you own menu system (Toolbars, Customize) Play with it, you may be able to create something that is more appealing with what you want, I perfer to do both options. To use you new menu bar, state it as the default menu on the same startup properties as above.

Smile Getting your switchboard to show on open

Hi

If you go to the Tools menu and choose Startup in the Display Form/Page dialogue box click the drop down list. Your switchboard should be showing if you've created it from a form. Choose it from the list and next time you open the database your switchboard will appear.

Change the properties of your form using the properties sheet to change the appearance and how and where the switchboard appears on screen.

Hope this helps.

John
