Text field numbering not showing up correctly

I have a field where the numbering is

    BBC001

    BBC002

    BBC003

    BBC004

    BBC005

    BBC006

    BBC007

    BBC008

    BBC009

    BBC010

    BBC011

The database is sorting the numbers

    BBC001

    BBC010

    BBC011

    BBC002

    and so on.

Is there a way to keep the numbering from doing this?

    Thanks, Anne

In a query, you will need to split the field into two fields. One Alpha and the other Numeric, and then sort on both fields with the Alpha to the left of the numeric. You can then hide these two fields in your query, so that your text field appears to be sorted in the manner you desire.

Actually, an alpha sort on those values should still work because of the placeholder zeros. Something else is going on. Maybe there isn't any sort order defined? Is that field indexed? Are you looking at table or query? Is that the actual data or result of setting Format property in table?

I like to know if my suggestion helped you. One way to let me know is by clicking star at bottom left corner of post.

June is correct. I just tested and they sort properly for me when entered into a table as straight text. I did my sort in a query.
