Using Find on a Form question...

Hi,
I may be missing something very simple here, but here's my small problem:

I want to prevent entry to/focus control of a field on a form, but also want to allow the user to search by this field. It seems that if I 'disable' and 'lock' it to save the user from going to it, using Find won't locate the record by that field.

There is no need for the user to be 'in' the field, I just want the user to be able to get to a record using the last name field.

It's simple enough to allow focus (not lock it) to just that field, but was just wondering if I was missing something.

Have you tried locking and not disabling that field?

Later,

I have tried that, thanx...

It appears a Find will only work of the field is enabled. I can lock it so the user can't change the data, but focus still apparently has to go to it (enabled) in order for the Find to work.

It's not a big deal if I enable that one field just to let them use Find (just trying to make it user-friendly of course).
Thank you for the suggestion anyway!
