Utilizing existing data to create a new record
I have inherited a database application that was built to store test cases. There is a request for the ability to use an existing test case data to create a new test case.
Here is what I have to work with:
Two tables, the first one creates a header record and the second table creates the steps of the test case. The header record generates a primary key that is used for the test case id number and that number is also used as the primary number for the test case actions.
How can I copy both the table entries, assign them a new auto-generated primary they will both share?
