I need to give users access to modify and add things on the IIS Server useing the MMC, they already have access to the relevant folders(ie. wwwroot, ftproot etc) I have also added the group to the opreators tab of the server properties, I then restarted IIS and tried to access it from the users PC through the MMc..I get to connect to the server and it list "web sites" and "ftp sites" but when you expand it to see the actual sites then there is nothing there..not even the default sites...anyone got any ideas???

It probably is some permissions problem somewhere. As a domain admin on a NT domain I have no problems connecting to IIS on other computers from an XP Pro workstation.

Accessing IIS Server via MMC
this is true for myself as well, but the issue comes in where the users is NOT a domain admin or a admin on the member server, (which is the way it has to be kept), any ideas on how to do it WITHOUT being domain admin and or local admin??

I think you need to be an admin to manage IIS. Maybe www.iisfaq.com has something on this.

Did you ever find out how to do this?
I am also looking for a way to grant the developers I work with access to the IIS MMC. However, I don't plan on granting them admin access to the domain or local server. Were you able to find a solution on how to do this?
Thanks. |
