Can't start SMTP...
I have a test w2k3 server with IIS6. It was set up without SMTP, so I added it in. Problem is now I can't get the SMTP to run. It always crashes when I try to start it.
Any ideas? It is preventing me installing Exchange tools and things... |

One idea is you might have better luck getting a meaningful answer if you posted some details, like error messages or whatever.
Otherwise, the only suggestion I have is to uninstall then reinstall.

Well that is the problem. No error messages. I simply can't start SMTP on this server. It normally crashes IIS Manager, or if I am lucky it tells me that SMTP failed to start and to check the Event Viewer Log. Problem is, there are no corresponding entries in Event Viewer.
Well I am going to try removing IIS, reboot, the reinstall IIS with SMTP...then hope I haven't broken anything... |

Well after removing IIS 3 times and fully removing the exchange tools, rebooting the server several times, blah, blah, blah... I have finally got everything at least installing at this stage...let's see how it goes.
I have wasted nearly a full day on this so far...good thing I get paid either way... |
