Custom 404 prompts for download
I made a custom 404 error page and changed it in the IIS console.(v. 5.1 btw). I tested it with an html page and it worked fine, then thought I do an asp(classic) page, but Firefox prompted me to download the 404 page, and IE wouldn't even look at it. I got a popup box saying the bogus link didn't exist. Well I know it doesn't, and thats why it should redirect to 404.asp. I did change the file name in IIS.
I have the 404.asp in an errors folder in the / directory. Anyone have any thoughts? |

Figured it out(kind of) I used a URL instead of a file. But now I get the 'Default' page, rather then my page or the page with a description.

How did you create your custom error page? The IIS documentation has details.

Nevermind. As I was going over how I did it to post a response to you, I decided to try one more thing. I thought I tried it but apperantly not. I in the URL, I didn't put the name of the folder that contains the WHOLE site. (i.e. /test/errors/404.asp). Instead I had /errors/404.asp. DUHHHH.
Thanks |

I'm happy you got it worked out OK.
