Ah! If everything could work as smoothly as PWS. I am running ASP sites under XP Pro, I cannot update database or text files. I have unsuccessfully tried to reset file/folder properties via Explorer and via the Permissions Wizard. I am logged in as the WIndows administrator.
What's the trick? Error Message: 0x80004005 - Cannot update. Database or object is read-only. Thanks. |

What do you mean by "unsuccessfully"?
Give the web server user account read/write/modify permissions to the .mdb file, it's folder, and the windows TEMP folder.

Database Update Now Solved
Thanks. That worked. I'm new to XP and apparently read/write permissions must be assigned to users through the folder/file properties/securities dialogue. Phew!
