Edit/Save Content Editor to external website

Hello,

Please help me. I have work over 6 days and nights on this but cannot find a solution in ASP/VB/Java environment. (NOT ASP.NET)

I have a content editor on my website and I can easily edit/modify the text and pictures of any html files on this website. This is working fine. But I want to use this content editor to edit/modify other HTML files present on my 4 other websites. I want it to connect to my other site (HTTP or FTP function), then when I pick a file from there, I just edit it and when I save it, it should send it back to the URL's where it got it.

I was told that the only way for it to work is to install the editor on all the websites. This is so inconvenient and there should be a way of making that work.

I would be greatful if you could help, give any suggestions, anything that could help me understand the concepts, please please please this is a real nightmare for me.

Many thanks
