Troubleshooting - Error 406
Hi,
The server is running Windows Server 2003 IIS 6.0 hosting a web application. Users have reported getting "HTTP 406 not acceptable" errors from their browser (Using IE browser) repeatedly. The occurence of this error is random, at best, as we analyze the IIS logs. There were times that the problem stopped occuring by itself, which means it reverts back to normal, without giving this error message. This problem also seems to be resolved by an IISReset. Web Admin actually performs the IISReset when he encounters the error on his routine daily check. When the error occurs, it would affect subsequent visits to the webpage. The problem only goes away either by itself or by an IISReset. One thing to note as well is the visited webpage that gives this error is using HTTPS. Need anyone's help urgently. Thanks in advance. |

Error 406
have you got any custom filter ISAPI dll's installed, as this can be a common issue which causes 406 errors.
In the sites Home Dir tab click the configuration button and check the config exentions mapping and make sure the correct file types are mapped to the according dll.
