Unhappy Help with setting up a personal web server using IIS

I have IIS installed properly on XP Pro and my network is setup through a Zoom X3 router with a 1mb connection. I have my website in the root folder of IIS and when I type my internal IP address into my browser http://10.0.0.4:80 my website is displayed.

I am now trying to get it set so as it can be accessed from the web but am having some problems doing so. When I type in my IP address which I get from my router menu – 172.212.xx.xxx:80 it brings up the zoom console for editing my router settings. I got my friend to try typing it in from his PC but it just gives the message that this page can not be displayed! I have checked the IP with whatismyip.com to confirm it is correct.

I have forwarded Port 80 on my router and enabled the WAN side HTTP server. I don’t know what else to try?

Please help!

Ive been looking through similar threads in the forum and i have tried everything possible!

I can ping my IP and get replies;
All firewalls inc windows are set to allow port 80;
I can display my website from my browser by http://localhost http://scott(pcname) and http://10.0.0.4(local ip)

I can also access the site from any other PC in my LAN, if that helps?

It sure sounds like you haven't successfully forwarded port 80 through your router.

You need to direct port 80 to the internal IP of your web server. Also make sure port 80 is forwarded through the XP firewall and any other firewall software on your server computer.

Managed to get it sorted a few days ago. It was my ISP, they blocked port 80 so i changed it to port 8080 and then disabled the WAN side HTTP server.

I was also told by Zoom Technical support that I can't access the site from the LAN side of my network by using the ip address, i have to use th elocal addresses from within the network. But its all working fine now!
