Hello everybody,
Please help, My case: I have my own domain registered with register.com. I have static IP provided by my DSL provider. I have developed ASP.Net application on my computer and have IIS installed on machine (XP Pro). I have tested my application and it runs perfectly using localhost. After I was done with testing I called register.com to redirect my domain requests to the static IP provided by my ISP provider. Once they redirected domain requests, I was able to ping my website (which was displaying my static IP address provided by ISP). I guess everything was cool. Then I went to IIS/ComputerName/Web Sites/Default Web Site properties (Web Site tab) made following changes: 1. I left default "Description” to be “Default Web Site” 2. I changed “IP Address” to display my static IP address (provided by ISP) instead “(All Unassigned)”. 3. I left “TCP Port” to display 80. 4. I do not have any firewall software. 5. and I didn’t change anything else. At this point when I go to Internet Explorer and enter my domain name I can access my web site, but when I try to access my web site from another computer, web site can not be found. Do I need to configure DNS (in my case they are provided by domain provider)? Do I need router? Is there anything I'm missing? I did post a similar thread, and someone forwarded me to http://www.no-ip.com/tips.php/id/6. It didn't help, but is an excellent article. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Leave the setting to All Unassigned. Also, unless you changed your network settings your NIC does not have the external static IP assigned to it. Do you have a router? If so you must forward port 80 to the internal address of the IIS box.

If you don't have a router, take your IIS back off the Internet so you don't become one of those virus-infected zombies that run robot code trying to break into all the other unpatched, unfirewalled servers on the net.

I have fixed my problem. I had window's firewall on.
By disabling it, I was able to run the application. Thanks to all of you for your help. shtreber. |
