Turn off "Show Friendly HTTP Errors" in your browser to see a more detailed error message.

Open the Administrative Tools folder for your Windows XP/2000 computer and look for the Event Viewer.

Question

The more detail about event viewer is like this:

type: warning
source: w3svc
event: 36

Description: The server failed to load application 'LM/w3svc/1/ROOT'. The error was 'The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect. Check username & password.'

type: error
source: DCOM
event: 10004

Description: DCOM got error "logon failure: unknow user name or bad password." & was unable to logon.
\IWAM_USER_UY08DDQJLG in order to run the server

while in Logfiles i get this error message '#field: time c-ip cs-method cs-status'

this is what i can get, if u guys know anything about this please let me know.

IIS 500 internal server error

type: information
source: eventlog
category: none
event: 6006

type: warning
source: w3svc
category: none
event: 36

type: error
source: DCOM
category: none
event: 10004

this problem is mainly occure due to component failure. i had the same problem with one my production server.
the problem sometimes arises whenever you have IIS with VB or SQL server installed. due to this the MSDTC failed to load and
dtcsetup.exe stops working. as a result the COM failed to load. do the following steps to start IIS

first installed the dtcsetup.exe from command prompt.
secondly, recreate the component from component services.
last the, create the ASP packages.

i follow the steps and it works

Please don't post answers to old threads.
This question was posted 7 months ago. I would think in the time frame he/she probably managed to solve the problem.
