I am having trouble connecting to an Oracle database. My machine has Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with IIS 6.0 installed.
I have a System DSN added. I am using ASP pages that I know work on another machine with IIS 5.0. I have set the extension that allows me to run ASP pages (something a lot of posters here are finding out). The problem is actually connecting to the Oracle database. Again, the same exact code and DSN setup runs fine on IIS 5.0. I'd appreaciate any help. |

Running ASP pages in Windows 2003 is off by default, you must manually add the ability turn on a setting to run ASP pages.

How is the DSN setup?
Have you tried using a DSN-Less connection? |

Let's Put this Problem to Rest
This is the scoop. First, I will restate my software setup:
1. Windows Server 2003 2. IIS 6.0 3. ASP pages connecting to an Oracle 9i database using a System DSN. 4. ODBC Driver: Oracle in OraHome92 The problem was not being able to connect to the database in an ASP page. Oracle 9i restricts access to the folder containing the drivers, folder "ora92". Right-click on folder "ora92", click "properties", then the "security" tab. Add the IUSR user, then open the permissions for IUSR to be able to read and execute. This might also apply to IWAM but I have to test if you really need that one too. It's Oracles fault! |
