IIS - Erratic behaviour
Hi

I had IIS 5.0 running very smoothly for a long time. Then last night, I updated McAfee VirusScan Online (actually I had it for a 90 days period, let it lapse and then paid up last night)..

This morning IIS started behaving very erratically. Some of my asp pages work, others dont.. The browser just stays busy for a long time and if I hit refresh a few time, the server says too many people are accessing the server.

I did a virus scan and found some worm (which had copies of explore.exe) in a few directories which it promptly deleted. I also uninstalled IIS and reloaded it, but I have the same problem..

Any help would be appreciated. I dont know if this is a virus issue, an anti-virus issue or something else.

From your description, my guess is there is a virus problem, or the virus removal you did removed some necessary file.
