IIS Installation Error, need help.

Hi,

Today my Win XP crashed and IIS cheased to function. I planned to re-install it. So I went to Windows Components setup and uninstalled IIS. I restarted the computer.

But when I tried to re-install IIS, it says

Code:
"Setup could not copy one or more files. The specific error code is 0xb7. Press OK to continue or Cancel to stop setup and try again. If you continue the components may not function properly."

If I continue, the wizard hangs.

I tried System File Checker (sfc) and also re-installed windows (upgraded, not new installation) over the existing one. But the problem exists.

I checked with the Event viewer and an error stating:
Code:
"The IIS Admin service terminated with the following error:
The directory name is invalid."

Help me to get this error out. I am in the middle of my project and can't complete it without IIS.

Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know, make sure you are logged on XP as an Administrator user.

Directory Permissions

Check your directory owner permissions. Change owner to the administrator user for the complete directory structure. It soulds like you previously reinstalled XP on an existing volume. Setup was unable to write specific files in the directories.
