IIS launching an application ?
Hi everyone !
I have an html form written in asp...which upon submitting launches an executable.. (framemaker.exe) the IIS service attempts to open and launch the executable ... but is unable to as if it has no access to the monitor. (it just beeps and the application hangs) framemaker.exe does not have a 'silent' option .. that would allow it to run in the backround... Is there a way to allow framemaker.exe to be launched by IIS ? ... so that the window is allowed to open ? thanks. . matt |

I don't know but my guess is permissions, with the IIS user account not having sufficient permissions to all the framemaker files & objects.

Hey Thanks Doug !...
It turns out that a service cannot run an executable in the forground... on a different machine.. and therefore can't open an application window to allow users from another source to view and possible edit... so framemaker.exe needed to be run in the backround ..but is not available in silent mode... I've decided to write an external c# program to listen for a certain event ..and then run the framemaker process in the forground..where framemaker will be permitted to open.. thanks for all of your effort... do you know any resources for C# ? thanks matt |
