Thumbs down IIS not recognizing asp files

Hi,
Basically i am a programmer, don;t know much about IIS, i have installed it on one of my work place's pc so i can develop an intranet for them, it installs fine on windows2000 sp4 but in the Inetpub folder the localstart.asp files are like you know when windows cant find the program to open the file with, and when i do http://localhost/localstart.asp it just goes stuck does'nt do anything.
please Help!

Antivirus script blocking software can cause hangs like this.

As doug said, some anti-virus software have a feature called script blocking, this would need to be disabled.

To my knowledge, it is only Norton that causes this problem.

There's also a scripting/executables setting .... you have to enable it....I set mine to Medium (pooled).
