IIS on XP Home HTTP 500

Hello
I have configured IIS on my XP home using the workaround found on some sites and IIS is installed. But when I am trying to access the localhost I get a HTTP 500 error. Can someone help

Thanks

Patty

You should ask on whatever site you got the IIS on XP Home kludge from

My best recommendation is to get XP Pro and use a supported version of IIS.

IIS is unsupported on XP Home.

Exclamation It's in the settings

Like all the fun stuff in XP, the answer is in the Computer Management console, in the default website properties. Look at steps 8 and 9 on the document you probably used to do this.

If you aren't comfortable looking through settings screens, then you shouldn't be monkeying around with system infs and dlls.

XP Home has seriously lacking security options compared to XP Professional. Just a word to the wise: if you set up a home machine like this, don't give it a publicly addressable IP! (If you don't know IIS enough to know why this is, then don't perform this hack install in XP Home.)

Also, you no doubt void any and all warranties on XP Home that you might have once had if you do this, and you are probably violating some kind of license if you you haven't paid for it (i.e., by purchasing XP Pro in order to get the cab files.) Please respect intellectual property rights and purchase software that you are going to use - programmers have to eat, too!
