1) Restart IIS
2) Verify the path of the default directory, should be (C:\Inetpub\wwwroot)
3) Verify the pages you are trying to view are located in this directory.
4) Turn off "Show Friendly HTTP Errors" in internet explorer (Helps with debugging)

To turn off friendly HTTP errors do this
1) Open internet explorer
2) Click Tools
3) Click Internet Options
4) Click the Advanced Tab
5) Under Browsing section
6) Uncheck the "Show Friendly HTTP Errors" checkbox.

Solution

Goto

and pay special attention to

kht1 (Programmer)Apr 7, 2004Hi All,

Finally after weeks of on and off attempts at trying to get COM+ running again on my XP pro box - it works. Given how annoying its been I'd figure I'd post some of the tips I found in hopes someone else could benefit. I have Visual Studio 2003 installed and I believe there's a dll conflict with one of the hotfixes and VS/ASP.NET 1.1.

Check out http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBN/tip6900/rh6951.htm for tips on reinstalling COM+. I didn't bother deleting the registration directory. Now I got the same error as WiseNewbie while reinstalling. To fix that I re-registered ole32.dll and oleaut32.dll and reinstalled COM+ again. The second attempt worked.

Hope that helps and I'm sure you mileage will vary and do export the registery items for a backup before you delete them - just in case...

Ken

That there, my friends is the solution.
Best regards,
Adrian Korsuas

PS
Please spread the word, as many people seem to have this problem.

I don't know what causes COM to crash - maybe it is ICQ, maybe it is ZoneAlarm, maybe it's whatever soft you have lately installed.

Anyhow, this happend to me a ton of times, and finnaly there is a solution. Use it!

Best Luck!!!

BEST REGARDS to kht1 (Programmer)
Thx for sharing!!!

reinstall iis

i had the same problem and after screwing around with permissions and playing around
with other settings, i just figured it might be my mcafee firewall. I checked "all traffic allowed"
in the firewall settings, then i uninstalled iis.

i reboot my computer and installed iis again, it totally worked.

so maybe try checking your firewall if you have one, and then just do a reinstall of iis. It
wouldn't load asp pages before, and now, everything is working as it should.

i hope that works for you ... it's bloody frustrating and a complete waste of time
... ahhh windows.
