hi guys, recently bought a laptop and when i start using it i notice theres no IIS installed inside. after that i go and install it by using add/remove windows component. everything works fine, inetpub folder created in my c drive, but then when i try to test the iis by typing http://localhost in my IE, an error message shown, Server Application Error, "The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance", anyone can help me with this?thx a million

Make sure you were the administrator user when you installed IIS. Try turning off any firewall/antivitus/spyware/script blocking programs. Visit the event log and see what the error message says.

Search this forum, I believe there have been answers to your error message posted. Perhaps the command-line tool that re-registers all the iis components? I don't recall the name of the program but it's available from ms and it's been mentioned in this forum.
