hello
i have tried to install IIS on Win XP with no secsses i installed it the usal way add and remove windows components wizard. checked the internet information services (IIS) bal bla bla ... went to its manager and press start after a while i got the this msg: "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" i went to the services mang' and wanted to start the WWW manualy and i got this msg: "could not start the World Wide Web Publishing service on Local Computer. Error 126: The specified module could not be found." i dont know what to do. i have even tried to reinstall it sevral times with no secsess when i try to go to : http://localhost/iishelp or any of its like i get the next msg:" ERROR The requested URL could not be retrieved While trying to retrieve the URL: http://localhost/iishelp The following error was encountered:

What version of XP are you using?

i am using windows xp professional edition
is there a chance that it would work that time? |

If you're not, you need to be an administrator on the computer when you install IIS. If you have multiple users on your machine your login may not be an administrator.
If that's the case, uninstall IIS, reboot, login as administrator, then reinstall IIS. If you're running any script blocking software or firewall software, try turning them off before you install.
