IIS6 - web site to for browsing "my computer"

hi !!
in IIS6, i created a new website on a custom port, and added virtual directories to it corresponding to each drive. i gave permissions for "browse" and "read". i want the user to be able to download any file from the site. e.g, navigating to c: and downloading a.exe. however, it doesn't work, i get a 404 error. how do i solve this?
thanks

Do you have some details?

Probably it's a permissions issue.

well, the folders show up, and the list of files show up to. i am able to browse folders/subfolders. only when i click on the file, it gives 404. the drives are all FAT32.
i think its a security issue in IIS, but how do i switch it off or get around it?

I've never tried what you're doing. If IIS authenticates the user then the user's account must have permissions to all the files & folders. If IIS is running anonymously (which would be pretty scary with what you're wanting) then the IUSR_computername user needs permissions.

Beyond that, I don't have any immediate ideas.
