Unhappy Internet Service Manager Problems

I'm currently having problems with my IIS. The Internet Service Manager will not open as an application. It's process will open but not the application itself. I am question what it is. What should I do to help it?

-Jeff

Not being a mind-reader, I don't have the answer. What version IIS? What version of Windows? What do you mean it's process will open but not the application?

Haha, I'm really sorry. When I first created this thread, I wasn't even thinking about that when I posted. I'm running Windows 2000 Professional. The version of IIS I have is 5.0. When I say the Process opens, but the application doesn't, I mean, the process, MMC.exe (Microsoft Management Console) opens up in the Process list, but it doesn't actually boot up to where the application starts running. This disallows me from starting my IIS. (Right now it's off). I really don't know what to do, I'm thinking I'll just reformat and redo everything. But if there is anyway to fix it, that would be awesome.

In W2K IIS runs as a service, open Administrative Tools - Services and look for the World Wide Web publishing service. It should be started automatically and running. Use the services mmc to set the startup parameters for your IIS.

If you fire off the IIS mmc and it doesn't open, something isn't installed right. Even if it's not running, if IIS is installed properly the IIS mmc should open and show you that the default web site is stopped.

You can install IIS as a non-administrator user but it won't work. You must be a local administrator to install IIS.
