ISS server not working. [IIS5, Windows Server 2000]

Hi all,

I have problems with hosting a Web page on my company server with IIS.

I installed everything in the server, and tried to run my web page on local connection. It worked.

Now I try with the Wan IP, it doesn't work. It seem to find something, but get blocked.

So I called the guys who installed the firewall and asked him to unblock port 80. He did but still not working, same result.

Somoene know what's happening?

Btw : The firewall is running on a Linux machine, who also act like a router. I don't know much about it so...

Thank you.

2 things you need to do:

1) Make sure that the IIS server is listening for connections on all unassigned IP addresses (or something like that anyway - just make sure that its listening on all IP addresses and not just your local one).

2) Setup ‘port forwarding’ on your router so that it forwards all inbound connections on port 80 to the PC that is running the webserver.

Do you have a link or a tutorial to do this with a linux router?

I'm gonna search the web to find something, but if you know any useful link.

By the way thank for your help.

The router is normally a little box created by someone link Netgear or Linksys. you connect to it via your web-browser, and it has an address like:
192.168.0.1 (it could be anything, it depends what router you have)

Just open up a DOS window and type IPCONFIG - there will be 3 IP addresses - ignore your local one, ignore the 255.255.255.255 one, and you will find that the remaining one is your Router's IP address.

Then you just need to type that IP into IE/Firefox/whatever and you will probably be asked for a username/pw - in which case you need to find the user manual!

If what you are saying is that you have a Linux Server, and the server itself is acting as the router, then I’m not too sure how to setup port forwarding on it (I have never used Linux :-/ ).
