I am having IIS 6.0 on Windows 2003. If I do browse or use localhost it works in IIS but if I give IP or Machine name it does not work. I am able to ping the machine by name though. The default.html has a line <META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="0;URL=/site/test.asp">. When I use name or IP all I see is a blank page and when I view source I could this line so probably the URL is not working and I do not know why. Any input regarding this problem is much appreciated.
Thanks, vac2004 |

Check for any firewall blockage.

Thank you for the response. There isn't any firewall blockage. Also the same problem persists on 3 different installs involving IIS 6 and 2003. I believe it is somekind of setting that needs to be done but I don't know what it is. Basically the redirection not seem to work when I use IP or Name. If anyone has experienced this or have an idea please let me know. Thanks, vac2004 |

Post a sample of what works and what doesn't. I thought you were just entering the ip in your browser directly. Perhaps you have a routing problem and/or DNS problem that's keeping your redirect from working to an IP or url.

Thank you again for the response. I actually found the problem. The problem was not on IIS but on IE. The META REFRESH was disabled on the browser. I enabled it and then it works fine. But I still don't understand how would //localhost/mysite would work and //machinename/mysite would not. Thanks, vac2004 |
