Lookin for help with IIS

Hoping somebody here would be able to help me.

I installed IIS couple of weeks ago, in order to start learning ASP.NET. Things goin great without any problems, but now, for no apparant reason, I cant access IIS. The short cut is in the admin tools, but nothing happens when i click on it. I cant access any of my pages, inclucing the localhost. Ive tried re-installing IIS, and had access to it for a few minutes then i ended up back at square1

Im running win xp pro, and this problem only seemed to occur after i downloaded an update for nortons internet security. Ive tried deactivating my firewall and anti-virus but to no avail

If anyone has experienced any simular problems, and has any solutions or advice, then i would be most grateful

Kind Regards,

A.

What happens when you try to view a page?

A zone alarm update caused similar problems on my xp pro box. The fix was to open the services mmc and set the WWW service to manual startup, reboot, and after the reboot restart the www service and answer the zonealarm popup to allow IIS to act as a server. You may be able to visit your firewall configuration and edit/add the www service as allowed servers.

Or, of course, it may be something completely different

Hey again,

Its kinda resolved although i got new problems now
Original problem with www service not starting was some sort of compatibilty issue with nortons firewall - i had to disable this and start the firewall manualy 'after' the www service had started . . .
my new problem is that although i can now access localhost - i cant seem to dsiplay any aspx pages - i get a blank page only ive tried disabling script blocking but a bit out of ideas again - so i lookin to pick ya brains again for ideas i searched other posts but couldnt find anything . . .

Any ideas ?

thanks in advance,

A.

If you're on cable or dsl I'd say get a low-cost broadband nat router like a Linksys. It will make you less nervous when you need to stop your software firewall for some reason
