newbie iis help
hello
i rent a dedicated server running windows 2003 the server has iis setup and its running the default i guess its called web page (dont have a clue where) and i do NOt have a domain name i am using the ip address assigned to the server. here is a screenshots of what i see in iis [img=http://img260.echo.cx/img260/2766/serverii10zg.th.jpg] and [img=http://img260.echo.cx/img260/6513/iisserver23sx.th.jpg] what i want to do is just places some images/scripts like this for example:http://wiki.audioscrobbler.com/index.php/RecentlyPlayedImageV2 on my server and then be able to link to forums and such my avatars/signatures etc to where they update etc if needed... i am not tech savvy so the easiest way to accomplish it would be helpful. i tried making a new 'web site' using iis but it asks for a header and i use an ip/not a domain name... hope i explained good what it is i am wanting thanks |

I don't know about W2003 and IIS6, but previous versions of IIS would open up the IIS documentation if you opened a browser on the web server to http://localhost

You should check the documentation like Doug suggests, but why do you need to create a new website? Use the Default Web Site that's already been created. This probably points to the directory C:\Inetpub\wwwroot. So if you create a new folder in there, such as "scripts" which you should be able to access from http://ipaddress/scripts. |
