Angry Newbie needs help - IIS now can't find localhost

I recently installed framework 1.1 from the windows update website. Ever since, when I run Visual Studio 2003 and try to start a project or solution, I get an error message that the localhost can't be found. It can't be found from my browser either.

I have uninstalled IIS 5.1, framework 1.1, and VS 2003 and re-installed all in correct order and the same issue remains. I was running VS 2003 fine before the install of framework 1.1. I am running Win XP Pro/SP 2.

Any ideas on how to get VS 2003 to work correctly with IIS 5.1 and framework 1.1. There is something in a setup somewhere that is not configured correctly, but I can't figure out what it is. I used the search function here, but can't find anything that seems to work for my problem.

Thanks for your patience with the newbie.

IIS error message attached

I have attached a screen print of the IIS error message from VS 2003.

Hope this rings a bell with someone because I have tried just about every solution listed on this site and nothing has worked, yet.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

If you're running any firewall software try turning it off for testing. I once had a similar problem with Visual Studio 6 and an XP box with ZoneAlarm
