Sorry if this is the wrong place to post.
I am going to run my own website off of my server computer using ISS. I know i have to buy a domain, direct port 80 to my server computers internal ip, and set up a dns. I have all the protection i can get from all over. My question now is, how do i run a dns? do i have to pay for this? when running a dns how do i make my ip in a url? can anyone help me or give me a link to where to get a dns, and how to use it? thanks |

When you buy yourself a Domain Name that is your DNS name, DNS stands for Domain Name Service. I would suggest that the ISP you use would be able to handle registration of a Domain Name for you and with that they will set up the correct DNS to IP mapping. If they can't, there are other agencies who will do that for you. You are going to need to make sure that you have been assigned a static IP address.
