Problem with IIS please help
Just wondering if it is possible to set up 2 "sites" on one server?
This server is just to test a site to make sure everything works before we put it to the production site. But the production and our test site then would have 2 differnt sites also. We "bought" (renting) a server from 1&1 for our production sites and I just wanted to make sure that I wouldnt mess anything up on the production site when I put the 2nd site up there. SO i tried putting the 2nd site on the TEST server and I cant get anything to show up except PAGE UNAVAILABLE. If anyone could please help it would be very much appricated. |

Are you trying to access a specific page within the test folder, rather than the folder itself?
Example:" www.site.com/test/test.htm vs. www.site/com/test |

In IIS you can setup multiple sites either on separate IP's or on the same IP with a Host Header. Either way you need to have something pointing you to the site IP by name. A host header in your 'hosts' file is easiest if you are only testing this from one local PC. Setup the site to look at a different folder structure for it's files and put your temp work in there.
That is the basics, as far as actually setting it all up if you are unfamiliar with IIS and DNS I would search Google or MS for a tutorial. |

You can have multiple sites in one server. I don't know how your plan with 1&1 works but usually when you use a hosting service all you do is point your site name (www.sitename.com) to the folder that contains the site files (sitenamefiles). You might just want to call their tech support and ask them how to go about this.

Matrixx is right then. If you are using a hosting provider you need to contact them for tech support.
