Exclamation Server APP Unavailable message and IIS problems HELP!!!

I am new to the .NET world and also to the ASP programming lang. Im running W2K. I opened .NET and created a new ASP WebApplication and just to see if my connection was good I added one button and clicked build and browse. I get this error message:

Server Application Unavailable

The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.

Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the system event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.

So i go into the event viewer to look at the application log and find these error messages:
1-
The description for Event ID ( 1007 ) in Source ( ASP.NET 1.0.3705.288 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: The event log file is corrupt..

2-
The description for Event ID ( 1082 ) in Source ( ASP.NET 1.0.3705.288 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: 80004005.

I have GOOGLED this thing to death and now I am at my wits end. I've already tried to delete the components for IIS in the com manager and restarted IIS, all of this from the command line and is didnt help.

Please help me if you have any idea on what I need to do. You can reply to this post or email me.

Thanks for your help!

What version of Visual Studio.NET are you using?
Download the latest version of the .NET Framework (1.1) and uninstall both the old .NET framework and IIS.
Then install the new .NET (1.1) framework and then reinstall IIS and run aspnet_regiis -i from your (C:\Windows (or Winnt)\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\v1.1.4322(the new version)) folder

In most versions of windows there is a windows update link in the start menu.

I believe http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com will get you there too.
