Slow IIS
Hi,
I've been developing a site for a company that is using XP Pro with IIS to host a webserver. My dev site I've matched it (IIS and XP Pro) but on a much slower system (celeron 1100 vs the live site's P4 2.5+ (can't remember the exact processor). The live machine is faster in every aspect compared to the dev box I am using. On the dev box, the ASP pages work fast. On the live machine, the same pages connected to the same database is extremely slow. 1-2 seconds on dev box = 45 seconds on live. Watching the CPU from task manager, the live machine never uses more than 25% of the CPU time even when I'm waiting for the page to load. I've compared IIS settings between the live and dev boxes and they are the same. Anybody have any ideas? thanks. |

Maybe you're trying to connect to the wrong database from the production server?
Or the server could have a network misconfiguration or some hardware problem.

Hardware all checks out okay.
Network config checks out too. confirmed it's to the proper database, and access DB located on the same system. In fact, it's the only DB located on that system. |

Well, I guess all I can offer is that famous Nero Wolfe line "use your intelligence guided by your experience"
