I have 3 web servers where iis lock down has been installed. The problem lies with 2 vbs scripts that I created to email me using cdonts when a backup is completed and when a server reboots. They worked fine for a while, prior to IIS lock down being installed. IIS lock down disabled the smtp service. When I now start the service the smtp queue folder is swampped with emails. Over 100 within 20 seconds. They are usually diplicates of the same email. I have removed the vbs scripts, I have searched on the webserver for any files that may contain some of the text that is in the email, with nil results.
Does anyone have an idea why this is happening and how it can be stopped? |

If you clean out the drop file and it fills up again, I guess you'll have to keep looking for the source of the messages. I have never heard of anything inside the SMTP server causing this problem.
