System Update Service IIS cannto access any pages.
I'm trying to setup a local SUS server.
It installed itself and put its web files in the inerpub/wwwroot as it's supposed to. I installed the SUS to E:\SUS. I can access the administration by going to http://localhost on the server machine, but I cann't connect from any other machine on the network. There is no firewall between the server and clients. I can access the IIS placeholder "under construction" file, but if I try to go anywhere else I am prompted for a username and password. I have setup permissions for the folders, both the inetpub and the SUS folder and subdirectories with the content in them. I have allowed access to IUSR_SERVER01 and IWAM_SERVER01. IIS manager has set directory security to anonymous login, IIS manage password and use Integrated Windows Authentication. IUSR and IWAM can login locally in users settings. Still I cannot access the pages over LAN. If for example I try to go to http://192.168.2.96/autoupdate/en/default.asp I am prompted with a box 'Enter Username and Password for "" at 192.168.2.96'. Event in error log events (trying different users in IIS): The server was unable to logon the Windows NT account 'SERVER01\IUSR_SERVER01' due to the following error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. The data is the error code. The server was unable to logon the Windows NT account 'SERVER01\IWAM_SERVER01' due to the following error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. The data is the error code. Any help here would be appreciated. |

Sounds like the password for the IUSR account is not synchronized with the setting in the IIS service.
There is a kb article in the MS site on how to get the IIS user account passwords synchronized.
