Text messages failing in IIS SMTP
Hi, I am trying to send an email as a text message to my cell phone from a c++ code. My code can connect to my local IIS SMTP server and successfully send to a normal email address (i.e. xxxx@xxx.edu). But when I try to have it send to my phones "email" address (i.e. xxx-xxx-xxxx@messaging.nextel.com), the message just sits in my queue.
What is the difference between the two cases? |

Can you send email to some email address not in your own domain? Maybe it's a relaying issue that doesn't happen when you send to yourself or some other email that is in the same domain as your sender email address.

Well, last night I set up a gmail account and tried to send to that. They just sat in the queue. So, I can send to my school address, but not my phone or gmail. I am off campus and not tied into the school's network in anyway.

Then you have to try to configure your IIS SMTP to allow relaying properly. There are some settings in the IIS management console for smarthost, relaying, etc. Take a look there.
