Utter Noob Question
2000 SP4 server running IIS5 for my intranet. One of my users has recently decided to purchase a survey application that uses ASP, but whenever I click Submit at the end of the survey it displays the text contents of the .asp file instead of executing it and showing a "Thank you for completing our survey" screen. If I right click and browse the .asp file in the MMC on the server I can execute it, but if I try to access the file via the browser it does not show as an executable file (no application association for .asp). I looked through the basics of system security within the browser as well as changing the folder and then parent folder from "Scripts and Executables" to "Scripts Only" in the MMC...all to no avail.I feel like I'm missing something obvious here, but I'm at a loss as to what. I'm more of a web user than a formal administrator/author by training. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. |

It sounds to me like the filename isn't ending in .asp, or you have not granted script execute permission to the asp file. Check the permissions on the file itself.
And, you can't browse to asp files and open them with IE, you must serve asp pages up through the IIS server.
