Angry Win xp pro IIS: can not connect to the localhost

I carefully read messageg in this forum with the same problem. But nothing helps...

I reinstalled windows xp pro (fresh copy) and installed php. Php works from command prompt. But i have problems connecting to localhost (URL or URL or URL (any files: html, asp, php).

I used IIS before and never had problems. In the old version I had Inetpub\wwwroot look different (now it looks like usual folder without blue circle on it). I tried to do everything: web sharing, changing properties in default website, change Directory Sequrity in Default Web Site properties to all users...Nothing helps. It means I don't understand where the problem is...

Does someone has any ideas to how to solve this problem?

Is the www service running?
Are there any errors in the event log?
Does the IUSR_computername account have execute permissions?
Turn off any antivirus script blocking.
Turn off any firewall software.
