Fill a bimary field by Enterprise Manger
Dear all,
I have created a table with a binary field. How can I store a pdf file into it by using Enterprise Manager? Thanks. Regards, Ivan |

Sorry if this isn't the answer you are looking for, but it is far more efficient to store the PDF in a folder and put the PDF's link or path in the database.

Thanks for your quick reply. In fact I am still think about whether to store the files in DB or just store the links.
Can you suggest the pros of storing links or the cons of storing files in DB? I just thought storing the files in DB can save efforts to update the links if I store just the links and migrate the server. Thanks. |

When you store and retrieve the document in the database, you are moving a lot of bytes across the network. This is very inefficient. It's better to store the data in a folder somewhere and put the link to the data in the database.
