Problem accessing a sql server through a remote workstation ....!!

hello friends,
This is a weird problem i have come accross and i have no idea what to do abt it..... hope someone can help me out here....

I have a dedicated server for my website and i could connect to the server perfectly till last nite.... as of this morning i cannot connect to the server but the website is working fine.... i tried connecting to the server from other work stations..... but it stilll gives me the following error........

Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 53
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect())
Connection failed:
SQLState '08001'
SQL Server Error: 17
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Sounds like someone has blocked the SQL Server port on your firewall (usually port 1433 I think). More info here:

If I've posted some code above, you might think it looks a bit simplistic. It might be. I'd rather people tried the next step themselves rather than getting a full solution on a plate. That way they learn more!
