what you think about MSSQL

Hi Everybody

I am new to big databases. Please help me to understand the concepts behind those.

I heard everybody saying about million $$$ MSSQL. Is it really very expensive to have website with MSSQL database. I’ll not hosting my website in house. I’ll be hosting through other hosting companies and I find out that there is not a big money difference for hosting a website for ASP.NET with Access or ASP.NET with MSSQL

I am planning to develop a website ASP.NET with MSSQL. ASP.NET is very powerful language. This website will be high volume website. I am developing this website to start a new business. I do not have a big amount of money for my budget.

Please give me suggestions and ideas from you experience.

Am I doing right thing here or not?

Thanks

Rainbow

Hi

If you are going for shared SQL Server resources, you will not get the full benefit. However, you should only be charge a few quid a year for the privelege. As they say - you get what you pay for. If you've got the opportunity to go for a dedicated server and get your own SQL Server license, you will find massive benefits especially in performance and stability

Thanks Doug G and Selwonk for reply

I’ll be starting my website with shared server. thanks

Please one more thing

When I looked for hosting information they are giving you space on server for database for example 50MB and addition charges for extra space. how it works, please explain me

I download the trial version to learn MSSQL. for example I created test database in the MSSQL server. What should I do with test database. Can I finish my project with trial version (just imagine in 3 months of trial) and then get the hosting plan and upload the database with my project.

Or should I have to get the hosting plan first before starting my project and code online on the project with database
Or can I code in ASP.NET with trial version of MSSQL and get hosting later
Or should I code on MSDE to finish my project and then think about MSSQL, after finishing my project.

Please explain me those concepts, how it works?

million thanks for your time.
thanks
rainbow
