Creating Flash Gallery with MySQL

Hi, I have developed a fairly robust CMS in classic ASP / MySQL. I now want to create a front-end Flash photo gallery using the same data. Images are not stored in the database (Windows Server) but photo data is - images are simply referenced using FSO.

I haven't used Flash since about version 3.0. Can anyone advise on the best method - asp, xml, php? I can't find much info or articles on using ASP with Flash. Links to good tutorials would be a great help. Or better still, a sample project/gallery to download and analyse. I know ASP but not Flash, xml or PHP - but if I have to learn that's ok.
Or am I on the wrong track - do I simply call the recordset directly from Flash? Please help!!!
