as far as I know, you need Flash Video Streaming Service:

You can run them from any web server. I have a flash movie (.flv) running from our normal web host's server.
You need to import the avi to flash (I suggest importing to the library) and select the option to stream from a web server. Select the various quality options. I did mine as high quality video and with 160kps audio, I think. Once converted, it should place an instance of the film on your stage. You then publish the film, which creates the associated .swf file. This is the file you reference in your HTML. Then upload the html, swf and flv files to the server. You may also have to associate the .flv file extension with the relevant MIME type (application/x-shockwave-flash) That worked in my case. Hope that helps.

You may also like to read this article about valid markup for flash objects.
And also this article about stopping the "Click to activate and use this control" issue in IE. I have used both these techniques and they work really well. Hope that helps.... ![]() |

You can import .avi files into flash and have it play the files as .flv
