Photoshop 7.0 crash in "Save For Web" mode

Everytime I try to "Save for Web" in photoshop 7.0 it just crashes without any warning or error message. It happens as soon as I press the "Save" button. I have no idea why this would be happening as it never has before?? Any ideas would be great!

Thanks!

nope nope, i dont have this problem. When i click "save for internet" a new screen pops up w/ saving options like when you usually save something...yep yep...that's what's supposed to happen; maybe it's because i have a pirated version? I don't know...

Hi Folks,

I know this thread is a few months old, but exactly the same thing has started happening to me. Everything was working fine, and then, out of the blue last night, PS7 closed with no error message every time I tried to "save for web". It seems to be ok when I save as a Gif file, but trying to save as a jpeg just closes the prog with no error message or anything! I do web design and use the "save for web" option a hell of a lot. It's always been fine until now - what's going on? Any ideas?

Chelsea - have you found out anything useful in the meantime?

Thanks to all for any suggestions you can offer!

This just started happening to me as well. I also use "Save for Web" an awful lot. I am going to try and do it for a gif and see what I can come up with. If anyone has figured this one out, PLEASE let us know! :<)

Sorted

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Reinstallations made no difference. I also tried resetting the preferences, and that made no difference either.

What eventually sorted it out though, was resetting (only) the "Save for Web" preferences, which I did by holding down a couple of keys (can't remember which... shift & alt or something). And it's been working ever since.

Thanks again, Martin

Save For Web Crash Fix

ok - so what you do is press "Ctrl" & "Alt" the same time as you press "Save For Web"....a question box will pop up...do you really want to reset your preferences (or something like that) Say yes and voila - save for web works once again (hopefully, for you as it did for me!)

Yeah, that's right. It was sort of tricky though because you have to click and hold on save for web, press the Cont. and Alt. and then let go of the mouse button.... Otherwise pressing those buttons causes the File menu to disappear again. Anyway, good to have it working!

*cough*

This issue was resolved in Photoshop 7.0.1, download the patch from Adobe.com

If you can't install the patch, then don't use illegally copied or warez'd software, tyvm.
