Video file help

I uploaded a video file taken with my digital camera and the video doesn't play. MS Media Player opens but nothing happens. How do I format a video file to play on the web? It's in AVI format.

I don't understand. You uploaded it for download?? Or do you mean you're trying to stream it?

does the original file play?

You might have to wait a bit for the file to download properly, instead of trying to dwonload straight into WMP try saving the file to your desktop ("save target as.." if you click a link). After the file has done downloading, check to see if it plays properly then. If it does, it's just that your file may be too big to play very quickly straight in WMP (or your connection's slow, your hosting slow, etc, etc).

It may also be worth re-uploading again, just in case the file got corrupted on it's way last time you uploaded it.

Yes you will have to wait for the clip to load, but i am not sure AVI will work on the web, you will need a package that will export the file to something like and MPEG file, but even then you will have to make sure you server supports that file type.

Hope that helps sorry if it doesn't

Streaming video is what I'm after. Sorry about not making that clear.
