How can I encrypt emails that contain people's personal details (i.e. telephone number, credit card numbers) so that they can be easily open by an authorised reader in Microsoft Outlook, but not read by anyone else.

Can anyone help?

You should gather all sensitive data from a form submitted from and to a secure server. Then send this data off to a payment solution provider such as worldpay (who can handle the secure server side of things if required)

------------
Philip at 5/19/2002 3:31:30 AM

I have been exploring e commerce, and I have come across a barrier. If you use SMIME than there is an excelent component available from Persits software (http://www.aspencrypt.com). The support is pritty good too. This component is also available included in the hosting service sometimes as from Alentus (www.alentus.com) or Innerhost (www.innerhost.com).

In .NET you should be able to accomplish this but I haven't looked into it yet.

Bogoev

=================================================

------------
chris at 5/20/2002 6:11:02 PM

emailing details of credit card details is surely best left well alone.
